Ed Richards- Director / General Manager
Ed founded Leed Insulation and Spray Foam in 1989, operating with a partner from 1991 to 2010. After that partnership ended, Ed and his wife Michelle reorganized the company and have continued building it with a strong family- and community-focused approach. A fun fact about the origin of the Leed name: It is a blend of Ed’s name and his high school sweetheart Marilee’s.
Ed’s background is diverse, with formal training in graphic arts and commercial printing, experience in small newspaper production, and early hands-on insulation work dating back to high school. He also owned a landscaping and firewood business before returning to the insulation industry and launching Leed.
What Ed enjoys most about his work comes down to people and challenges. He values staying current with new trends and technologies and sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He finds joy in helping customers save money while reaching their goals. For him, business is personal, and many customers and vendors become lasting friends. As for his team? He loves being a part of their lives and feels blessed to be surrounded by a wealth of wonderful people.
Outside of work, Ed enjoys spending time with his wife and family, traveling, visiting friends, listening to music, biking, scuba diving, and learning new things. He is a self-proclaimed “technoholic” who you will often find working on computers and computer programming. His advice to anyone considering a career in the trades? “A college education is not needed to earn a good living and build a good life for yourself and your family. You can get out of it what you put in. Working with your hands and exercising your mind is as rewarding as any other occupation.”
